I’d kill to protect my son.
In playing a strong female character for 10 years on Smallville, I never realized how fortunate I was to not play someone’s arm candy. That was until I got back into the auditioning circuit.
Many people are asking me why I’m not working. It has now been 1 year since I last set foot on a film set.
Well, the answer is simple: There are very few writers like you (Joss Whedon) in this industry. A “strong woman role” or a “strong female story” is still considered a genre in the film industry – anything but mainstream.
The female hero should have strength, wisdom, compassion and integrity. I am no longer ok with portraying anything that degrades or erodes this type of woman.
So I will wait patiently…(maybe even try writing a little) until I get the next, “strong female character” I can sink my teeth into."
Chloe: I have been so many things over the years: doe eyed sleuth, intrepid reporter, Watchtower—
Oliver: Business suited cyber savior
Chloe: It worked, right?
"And that’s the tragedy of living."
